Our History
AREAS Foundation was established in March 2025 to continue promoting cultural initiatives that were previously carried out under its former identity as Five Words Foundation, now with a much stronger focus on education.
To ensure continuity, AREAS Foundation retains most of the original board of trustees and maintains the same team of collaborators and benefactors, while also incorporating new talent that brings added value to the foundation.
Two of the main initiatives under Five Words Foundation were the support of monthly causes and the micro-stories contest.
MONTHLY CAUSES
Each month, financial support was provided to a charitable organization, and their work was promoted through the foundation’s website and social media. By December 2024, the foundation had collaborated with 21 organizations from a wide range of sectors.

MICRO-STORIES CONTEST
With the goal of encouraging reading and writing—while also raising awareness for the monthly causes—the foundation launched its online Micro-Stories Contest, which held two editions.
Across both editions, over 1,800 stories were submitted by more than 740 writers from 24 countries across Europe and the Americas.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The third and most important initiative developed by Five Words Foundation has been the promotion of culture and education through the Scholarship Program. This is the work that AREAS Foundation continues to build on, and where it focuses all its efforts.
In its previous stage, the foundation funded the education of 99 children and young people in vulnerable situations across eight different countries on four continents, through partnerships with organizations working directly on the ground. These scholarships—ranging from early childhood education to university—covered academic fees and other school-related expenses.
These scholarships were awarded for full academic cycles, promoting inclusion and personal and professional development, and providing students with the tools to reach their full potential. This, in turn, improves their quality of life, as well as that of their families and communities. AREAS Foundation has taken on all previous commitments and continues to support these students until they complete their academic journey.
In line with its expanded focus on education, AREAS Foundation has awarded 43 new scholarships in 2025—the year of its founding—in addition to those already granted.

Although the name has changed, AREAS Foundation remains firmly committed to promoting education as a driving force for social change and as a key factor for social and labor integration.
